pretty good, you should add some camera movement to simulate the motion of the ship
Overall it’s great animation. At the end when he leaves the board, his head comes down too quickly, and it would be nice to see him with arms, but there’s lots of potential here!
This is really cool so far, but to me, the plank seems very stiff as if it were made of steel. It’d be nice to see some spring in it.
Good luck!
This is a very nice draft - it took me a good few views to see where it could be improved…
After he looks back, he looks down to the right then left - this looks a bit mechanical.
When I acted out that motion myself I found my legs moved after my head - to adjust
my balance - factor in the movement of the ship on waves and you could have an
extreme balancing act going on.
After that, when he leans back in anticipation of the jump - I feel he should pause
a moment, or the motion should be slower - to take in a breath or work up the
courage for the jump.
Good work so far!
WOW!! Thanks a lot guys!! I was getting discouraged by the lack of comments, but this really helps me want to keep going!!
I really appreciate you guys taking the time to comment, so just to address a few:
SimonKinana, thanks for taking the time to actually act out the motion, I never did that myself, it was all just out of my head and into blender. But the entire time I was second guessing if it would work or not, and I knew I need some reference of some kind, but just didnt take the time to search youtube.
To the rest of you, Thank you for taking the time to view and comment, this really is just a body mechanics test, it was not meant to be a scene of a short or anything more then just an exercise, so while it would have been fun to make it a more in depth scene and actually add a boat and waves this was just to gain some experience with animating.
I have a few other rigs but I just picked clive again, he is like the guienie pig, but I wanted to just focus on the the movements without the arms, but in the middle of the project I realized having the arms in there would have been even better practice.
So again aside from taking notes on these suggestions and maybe revisiting this some day, it is a finished piece.
Thanks again folks!!
