I would like to present my first proper model I have made by myself. I have done some tutorials with few problems, but creating models myself is a completely different story. But earlier today I got an idea so I did this in about 2 hours.
The idea is a walking gun. I got the idea when watching the music video for the song Sober by Tool (due to my number of posts I cant add links yet, but you can find it on youtube). There is a walking gun or contraption of some sort at 4:30, looks like a creature carrying the entire thing on his back while another one has controls. Either way, it inspired me to create a weapon with walking legs and handlebars for the operator, but thats the only similarities to the thing in the video. Mine is purely robotic, its just the concept that is the same.
Its not very detailed, but I think its starting to look pretty cool and Im still learning. I might add more details later and I also might give texturing a go. I know very little in that area.
In my opinion, I think you shold make the tip uniform in diameter, probably the size of th very tip. I think it looks too much like a walking crayon. Also, I think the legs should be in 2 parts, like chicken legs. 2 stiff legs might make it a little hard to walk.
The handles are for the operator to walk behind. It probably wouldnt be practical at all in real life, but its just a fantasy weapon.
I started with a uniform diameter, but it looked too powerful, more like a cannon. I tried to reduce the diameter, but that didnt look good either with the big size difference between the tube diameters. I dont really like it the way it is at the moment either so I might change it. I would actually say that the way it is now it actually looks like some sort of weird firefighting equipment, like a foam blaster or something, which was definately not my original target.
You are definately correct about the legs, so that might change aswell. However Im not sure how much work I want to put into this model. Since Im a beginner this is more about getting the feel of actually completing a model and then I’ll use my experiences and feedback on the next model.
