Warcraft character customization in Blender possible?

Anyone has any idea how they do it? For now, I’m only interested in the modeling/texturing part. Programming will come quite a bit later.

For people who has never seen the game, the customization I’m talking about is changing sections of armor texture over the character’s skin, depending on what the character is wearing on different body parts. I’m pretty sure they use alpha. But, do they unwrap each different body section on a different UV image? Or is there a better more efficient way?



I suppose it depends how much of the mesh/texture you are able to modify. If you can change everything completely, then that’s a different story than just being able to change the texture, etc… I don’t know much about modding those games, but it’s a good question to ask: Are you talking about WoW, WC3, or WC2?
