Warp nacelle

Right now I’m working on a model of a Constitution class starship. Progress has picked up after I resumed working on it, however I have come to an impasse of sorts. I’ve been working from some blueprints, and I’m not sure if the nacelle design is accurate. What’s your take on it?

I, for one, have no idea what you are talking about. Could you provide some source material so that people can look at it and compare it to your image there?

Okay, here’s a couple references that I found.

Two of my friends are in town for the holiday who I haven’t seen in a couple years and I spend the night looking at Star Trek blueprints…

Anyhoo, I found the motherlode site last night.

I guess it depends on which revision you’re working on but this one has some good details on the nacelle.

Thanks, but I had already been to the Cygnus-x1 site, that’s where I got the basic schematics for it from. do you want me to upload the .blend file itself?

Here’s the file, hopefully someone can tell me where I’ve gone wrong or how to fix it.

nacelle.blend (182 KB)

I would look at more references to see how the structure should look in 3 dimensions. The blueprints are a good reference to start with, but they are obviously not enough for you to visualize how the final craft should look.

The opinion of the most devoted Trekkie will not be as helpful as an actual photo of the ship.

Alright, I’ve decided to try again using NURBS. Things are going pretty well, except that I can’t decide on which of the nacelle ‘tips’ to use. The first uses a NURBS patch, and the second uses a sphere. What do you recommend?

I mean, which of the two do you recommend?
