water transperency problem

the tutorial i used is this

im confused the tutorial says to click the raytrans button and when i render it i cant even see the water. i need help

Well the advantage to ray-trace is that it calculates refractions or IOR Index of Refraction, so when you boost the IOR level the material will refract what is seen through it. So try boosting the IOR value to something like 1.1 and see if you that helps also adding some reflection to the water will make it more visible as well. Ohhhh and you might try updating to blender 2.5.

Just post your blend file. That screenshot doesnt show all the relevant info.

Hmm, i was never able to get any results using that tutorial.
So i had to experiment myself(project i did awhile ago), and got this. If you want i can give you the . blend for it. But yeah, i have seen better water than mine.

Water has a refractive index of 1.333, and for reflections use fresnel too!

Hmmm thats interesting I dont see any refraction in the render you uploaded. That blend file looks good though.
