That looks very good for what it is. If the water looked real then it wouldn’t match the rest of the scene. Do a search for materials index of refraction. Then stick it in your pipe and smoke it…Cheech and Chong would.
As it is, your image is of moderately better quality that the architectural render that a very wealthy architect/builder brought into the shop just a few days ago. The ached roof of his church wasn’t even subsurfed and the render was blown up to about 200% and framed for the client’s lobby. Imagine the pixellation. This is from a pro who was well paid for his work so I’d say you’re doing well cuz it looks good. The only good thing I can say about what he brought in is that the lighting was nice. All of plant life were obviously gif billboard textures that had been poorly cut out and had milky white edges to the alpha channels.
