I painted the original watercolor long time ago and even made a 3D model version (also long time a go on the beginning of my Blender path), you can find it at the end,
but it didn’t had this watercolor, hand painted charm,
so I distributed the original illustration on layers and modeled the image plane, following tutorial by Marco Bucci on YT (https://youtu.be/Ff0aobJRSNc?si=C86gKu9zT9uOGk9c)
also I used slightly modified Deep Paint material from paid add-on by Gaku Tada (https://blendermarket.com/products/deep-paint) and it made the color of the texture vibrant, and added these beautiful watercolorish, blue shadows
I am sure I will be experimenting with this look more!
Looks pretty good. Reminds me a bit of paper pop-up cards.
I also like your old Blender version, it has its charm and the
watercolor painting is great, of course.
Thank you! Yes! I also think it has this pop up cardes feel. I even feel inspired to use these graphics to actually make kind of layered cut out picture. I love recycling and reuse my illustrations this way
Thanks! It’s fun and quite easy to do. Easier than traditional painting for sure
I also wasn’t interested in Blender for a long while, it seems very complicated for the beginners.
but it is always great to try new things, even when just to know if we like it or not
Have you tried the Deep Paint add-on (or whatever we’re calling them now)? It’s not free but it wasn’t too bad. $30 or something. I picked it up in the last big sale but haven’t had a chance to really use it. Check it out. I think it might be right up your street. --Sean
Yes! I have it and used the Deep Paint material here, I just added my own texture instead of vertex colors.
I am also starting Deep Paint class in September, can’t wait!
