I tried a different artstyle this time, hope you like it. I also have an animated sequence for this, but messed up the render settings for that unfortunately. I will re-render the animation and will add it later.
I will also share the water shader i made here on my new patreon page later this week. You can find the link on my instagram profile (will be free of course).
thanks you! It started with a simple water shader i was working on. Thought it would be a good idea to test the shader in an actual scene, so i quickly made one. I got inspiration for the lighting by some images on pinterest and in general wanted to try a different artstyle this time.
The water shader is actually really simple. I also followed a tutorial for the fake caustics, because i wanted to avoid real caustics to reduce render times. I just added some additional stuff to it to make it look a little more interesting. My goal was to keep the shader simple and efficient which i think i did pretty well. The final render took me under 20s on a rtx 3070.
Some progress on the water shader i used in this project. I aim to add more features to it before releasing it on my patron for download (for free of course).
Features i try to add before releasing it:
better procedural normalmap for ripples + foam
meniscus
flow map
true displacement (waves + beach waves)
My goal is to not make this super realistic, but have a simple solution for adding good looking water in your scene without much effort.
