Way to render different layers with different render engines?

Is there a way to render one layer in cycles, and make it render the second layer in blender internal, so that you can combine them in the node editor? I know this is possible, since i have seen it in an Andrew Price tutorial, but i can’t get it to work :frowning:

Create a third Scene or separate BLEND file that simply reads in the resulting renders as image sequences into the compositor. Footage is footage.
