I used AO and lotsa bezier shapes (except for the mousetrap).
Because I set the camera as orthographic (for best toonedge results), I had to use some sort of forced perspective (especially for the mousetrap), both mousetrap and floor are actually going up in an angle of about 45 degrees.
EEEEEEEEEEE! excellent, excellent, i know how you pulled it off too, brilliant idea!!
and really funny too! great stuff man, you are a machine!
i would like to see a “blender battle” between you and robertt. two forces of nature with unstoppable sexual power, i mean unstoppable artisic power! lets see it!
Excellent work, Sago. I’ve been waiting to see some effective combining of 2D & 3D in blender! Very nice. I’d be interested to see if it could be animated.
My thot: it’d be funnier if the trap were over the mouse’s neck rather than his arm, I think… and his tongue looks more like a bandana/tie where its located now (especially when the other one has a tie.) Otherwise, cool!
suppose you could get pretty much identical results if you draw shapes in gimp/photoshop and load as alpha png sprites (like flash animators do) into planes/rectangles used as placeholders? and use blender geometry as props/scene setup?
here are some different shots of the scene. But it’s kinda hard to show, since most of it is flat.
This one is also shot from a top angle (that’s why you can still see the top of the floor and the mousetrap in sideviews).
Wu - yeah, Robertt is very sexy. %|
And he’s got some skills, I would never try a battle with that guy. Besides, our works are way too different; a fusion between him and me would be much cooler. In a battle with Alltaken/Ecks-fusion we would kick their ass (cause their styles just look too much the same…)
Vliegtuig - Thanx, the cheese was the only toughy. I just couldn’t get it to look good.
BgDM - Beziers are cool. Of course you can pull this of with many other (2D) programs, but it’s good to know Blender also has the ability. Even though it was pretty subtle, the AO gave it that little Blender extra.
mzungu - Animation would work just fine (I know I’m gonna give it a try). Turn off the AO and there’s not much worries about rendertimes.
I also wanted the trap over the neck, but I couldn’t get it to work on time… oh well. And about the tongue, it’s a cartoonfigure; those are sometimes gifted with the ability to lick their own ears.
Uhm… I call 'em glasses.
Yes, there are most likely different ways to do this with Blender. But at the moment this was the obvious way for me.
venomgfx - Yeah it was fun making! You should really give it a try. And because it’s with Blender, you have lotsa extra options (combining 2D + 3D).
