That is one nice looking cat!
Every thing you do is great!
My only crits are the tail looks to skinny from here, and the paws are a weird shape.
This cat is very likeable.
he’s cute, his tails a bit thin though, it’s almost like a mouse tail.
reminds me quite alot of a chuhuihui (however you spell it, tiny dog used for taco bell commercials)
gotta go, sorry for rushed replys
hey man looks really good except for them paws
Yoshi_rider: Thank you :). The tail will look thicker when I’ll add fur on it, so that’s why I have it thin so that I can have lots of fur on it :).
Characterx: Thank you.
Modron: Thank you Modron.
jessethemid: I think I know what you mean
and yes he looks like one now when he has no fur.
Aidan: Hi there, thank you, yeah I’ll look into the paws.
And now I’ve rigged him, and started working on his fur. Here is how he looks like at the moment.

thanks for stopping by.
great fur. That’s how I would like to see it.
Make sure you put alot of effort in those eyes, cause they will be very, very important (just like Puss in Boots in Shrek 2).
Very cute. That fur is fantastic, did you use multiple particle meshes or di d you use vertex groups to define particle length? Don’t forget to add some wiskers.
best fur i’ve seen in blender,
let the challange begin!!
Sago: Thank you, yeah I they are the most important part in the scene yes.
Woodman5k: Thanks. I used multiple particle meshes.
Wu: Thank you wu, and good luck in the challange.
here’s an update:

Worked some more on the fur, and messed around with the eyes a bit.
Thanks for stopping by.
Looks spectacular! No matter how the rest of the scene ends up I’ll be shocked if this isn’t in the blender3d.org gallery next month. The Fur’s incredible. You’ve made me glad I’m not participating this week… now I have time to brush up on my particles!
the fur on the mouth area looks kinda like the fur on a teddybear. Just seems to somewhat ruin the feel of the image. Perhaps decrease or increase the ammout of particals their.
Katsuro
i really dont want to help you, because i dont want you to win…
but, the fur on your first image was perfect, i would just keep that one, and move on…
the fur on the second image looks off? the dark dosnt really look right, and the light patch really takes the focus off your image…
so i suggest keeping your first image, DONT CHANGE A THING, then move on to somthing else in your scene…
end of help/advice, see you in the cage!!
This cat has appeal! Good work, keep it up.
Aligorith
TyFric: Thank you, but hey join because you learn alot while doing it.
Katsuro: Hi, I was going for a teddy furmouth and look like I made it :), maybe I should … I’ve got an idea.
Wu: heh
hi there. When you say it, it does look better, the other one got too cluttered. Thank you. And hey everybody is a winner because you’ll learn something on the way and that is more precious than winning the contest.
Aligorith: Thank you.
Here’s an update:

Messed with the hair a little bit, and also painted an iris texture. Now on to the body.
Thanks for stopping by.
whoa, that cat looks great, but imo the right eye (from cat’s view) should be looking sligthly more to the right, and I don’t know if that’s the point but the fur looks synthetic, the cat looks like a stuffed animal
The first image you posted reminds me a lot of the characters for Plumiferos.
Something doesn’t seem right to me about the fur. Perhaps, if it went out the side a bit more… or maybe the area around the mouth could be a bit longer. The whiskers look good.
Aligorith
wow that hair is looking great. not that it’s terribly noticable, but if you turn up the step value for the whiskers they will loose the slight crimped/segmented look.
Looks good- but I think you need to work on the mouth a bit, we need to be able to see the lips (do cats have lips?) At the moment it looks like (s)he is wearing a dust mask
