WC Entry- alien space-sailship!!UPDATE!!

Hi,

this is going to be my weekend challenge entry
http://www.peregrius.cz/ukazky2/skafandr.jpg

It is alien spaceship, I wanted to make some of that sunwind sailship A. C. Clarke written about. Not technically correct (sail is too small and not reflexive), but I choose better composition instead of technical relevancy

It is completelly PURE, no image maps exept bump map of the ship. All models are new too.

C&C please

Cool
I like your scene

That looks great! Nice touch with the cranial nodules. <<edit>> HEHE I almost didn’t notice Suzzane…

very nice man i love the effect and the scene i am a noob to but at lease i can tell from a bad or good artwork

and your one is Good

heh, thank you all for nice words!
Modron

Sorry, what do you mean with that cranial modules? I“ve never heard this term to be honest  And yeah Suzzane can“t miss here

Cool scene. :o The sailship reminds me from some Magic the Gathering cards. :stuck_out_tongue: The green particles system in the sphere makes it more looks like that it’s a alien space station. Great artwork, keep blending.

BTW Who’s Suzzane? :-?

Thanx. I“ve never seen any Magic the gathering so I can“t say, but I thought it is not SF but fantasy?
Anyway- Suzzane is Blender Monkey- add-> mesh->monkey  I used it on spacesuite“s thorax (is this english word? :-? )

Great work Tol. I really like the space ship and the astronaut’s suit.
Just curious how you got that spiral to follow the curvature of the sphere of the astronaut’s helmet. Any technique involved or just trial and error?

Also, thorax I think means ā€˜upper body’, probably the word ā€˜chest’ is the best word to use to describe the placement.

Thank you
It was rather trial and error, but not hard at all. I just started with sphere and used it as guide

There is updated version at weekend challenge phorum now:

Very nice Tol! I’m as green as the alien with envy. One comment if I may: I’m slightly distracted by the ā€œstructural webā€ which is quite complex. My neurotic-self can’t help but try and visually string all the pieces together.

Actually, I just thought of a suggestion; maybe you could make it so the green glow also shines through the other eye socket. Just an idea - would make it look as though it is looking back at you.

Your entry is too good. I hate you Tol! Just kidding
You’l be a tough oppenent in this WC, dude.
Keep on blending.
I.S.

Done, thank you, good one

Hehe, thank you. I just didn“t took it too lightly and tried my best after my 24h Elements contest debacle

Lol, I didn’t saw that monkey, lol I have seen it now. BTW I made a big mistake, I thought that body was a alien spacestation, but it’s just a human body. lol  But still a great art work.

Hi Tol

Glad you liked my idea

However, I would make it a little more subtle (less bright), otherwise it gives the impression that your alien is still alive instead of having met up with something that caused its demise.

I meant something more like in your first image where there was just a little green circle of light in the one eye socket, something like that. (closer to the green sort of foggy light between the skeleton’s head and the glass helmet). - sort of like the green fog rolling through the alien’s eye sockets.

Great entry, I hope you win

Hehe  Thas exactly what I mean- death isnĀ“t always definitive. Imagine that hell for alien soul trapped in space suit, forever lost in the cold eternal universe, so far and yet so close to his fellow ghost at ship nearby. Hope is dead, but this poor soul not…

Original I make that gas as the rest of flash and blood, but when I turn that skull to camera like It looks on viewer, I add this supernatural looking and I like it more then original version. It is more frightening and paradoxicaly more alive then before

We will see, who will win, there are several very good pieces now and it is still long time to closing of challenge, but anyway thank you for support (and sorry for lasting humilating of English  )

Very good. Nice lighting, modeling, and concept.
