//In 3050, the InnerSphere encountered the Clans for the first time. In front of the higher level of technology of the clans, the innersphere’s only choice was to retreat.//
Excellent as per usual. I had better start looking at some tutorials. I want to be able to learn new things and I’m not going to get results like yours unless I read a few (hundred) tutorials.
Fred_Pyo: uhmm well since you said it when I look at it it give me the feel of the victory screen from command and conquer general lol…but I got inspired by the Mechwarrior 3intro movie
well well… looks like you ran out of time, or got a bit tired… the background and mech itself are detailed, and looks like you spent time on those. but the ground…it’s just strecthed blurred textures. and there is someting strange blue and violet stuff that don’t look very good.
Yea I ran out of time…the little blue and violet thingi is suppose to be a tank…but I had to make it in like 10min…same thing with the flare…I didn’t had time to “test” it…so I rendered…took 40min…then some pp and I posted it…then I had to leave…so I could have put alot more details on the tank (I would have spent like 1hour on it instead of 10min) and also debris on the ground with a better texture… : [ I might make an update today
Thanks for the nice tut. Question - for the 3rd tex you say that it tells the 4th “where to show” - does this happen if I don’t click any of the “col/nor/spec” etc buttons? It starts affecting the next texture instead of the object it applies to? I was going to ask this in Q&A, and this example of yours makes me think you answered my Q before I asked it. Lemmeknow
hmm I don’t understand your question, but I used the third texture as a “stencil”, look in my pic of the material window I clicked the stencil button. I unchecked the COL button cause I didn’t want any white to appear (since my texture is a white blend texture…). But if you want, you can use the col, nor etc… button…if “stencil” is activated it will affect the other texture after even if those button are activated.
I have another question regarding stencilling.
If a want a texture to mask another texture, the stencil texture should be “above” the stencilled texture? and does it stencil all layyers beneath it or just the one directly beneath it?
And something else, I see that you are using a texture plugin, How did you do that, everytime I click on the load plugin button blender crashes?
PS It is unfortunate that ALL the subsequent textures are stenciled. I wish there was more control to it, possibility to create texture groups, so one can stencil their Nor texture in one way, Col in the other, Spec with a different stencil etc… (though I am very bad at texturing, so who am I to say what would be good before having learnt to use what is already there)…
X-> yeah I tried it with the latest blender version as well.
Do I have to put my plugins In a special folder or something, or does it involve any exotic python version?
It’s really anoying seeing all these pklugins on the net and the ork that some people create with it.

well I presume you could add more than 1 stencil…I don’t know if it would work…but maybe if you add a plain white texture as stencil maybe it “delete” the stenciling of the other for the subsequent texture…but then maybe this stencil will be stenciled by the other…ooh well I need to try to see if it work
Koudejongen: well…plugin don’t need python (well I think so)…so I don,t know why you are having problems with them :-?
Now i see. Mech in it’s natural environment. Nice materials. How much time did it take you to render the picture [i don’t know if it’s bacground or particles:]?
I still have troubles with good motion effect of one element of the scene. Move it separatelly or pararelly with the camera?
