We’re glad to present to you our latest project “SAAB-91 Virtual Race”. It was developed in collaboration with “SAAB 91 Petition & Support group” (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=275857728107) so we have the official game of “91 Project”

The game magically grew from “Skidrules. XZENA Version”. The current version (we still call it “alpha 3”) is available on our reconstructed web-site www.skidrules.org. It’s fully workable, but now we must correct some features & make the last script work.

We hope you like it. Please feel free to comment & criticize. We want critics to make game better.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Core2Duo 1.83GHz (or more)
NVidia 7600 or equivalent Radeon minimum (with NVidia 220GT - the game runs perfectly)
1GB RAM (2GB is much better)

150Mb of free HDD space.

the installation package is about 90Mb

Looks really good. I like it, too bad my computer isn’t cool enough.

Well, BGE requires a lot to game runs fast enough!

That looks really awesome!

Maybe you could upload a youtube video?

Hmm, seem like more one of your amazing games!
I just have to critique about the atmosphere in your games! They are a bit greyish/sad. Races are great on blue skies, or at list great visibility looking atmosphere: clear sky, partly covered, what ever. Night races need plenty of artificial illumination adding some vibration to the race.
The mechanics work fine, and the cars have…well…their own way of being driven(seem to respond to other laws of physics).
Keep up the great work, I’m a great admirer of your team!

By the way, what type of a race track would you like me to model? Something of an official race track like Hockenheim Ring or Talledega? or streets?

That’s good idea! May be you know some software to make video capture from the screen.

Or I just should use my camera?

Thank you for response a lot!
About atmosphere. The game is very close to the limits of BGE. I mean it quite slow. I’ve already experimented with blue skies and real-like city streets. But that game is too heavy even for NVidia 220GT. This time I specially implement dark and a lot of fog to hide track objects. Artificial illumination will take a lot of system resources and the game will never work at Core2Duo+GeForce7600 that I have.

About the car driving.
People from “SAAB-91 P&S Group” want their car to be JET. That’s why small B-class hatch could reach 350 km/h. That’s why tha game has “another” physix.

But I think that decision was right. This way we have a lot of dynamism and speed.

We can’t use any official track. We have not license to do that.

Please look inside of the game. You could see the standard parts of the road. Please look at them and think what you could improve

blender1999 officially joins our team!
Congradulations to you and to all of us!

And now we are in BLENDER.ORG front page. Please, everybody who like the game or who don’t like it, react and response. We need your mention.

We need your laptimes to fill this event!

So I download and play it? What then?

It s very heavy, you could think about LOD or something like that to make your game run smother, I have a GTX 285 and the game runs at 15 FPS.
