Hi all, up until this point I have been a perfectionist and never finished anything. And I set out to change that. I am going to create an animation a week, there are going to be errors, there are going to be glitches, stiff animation, but the point is to break out of the deadly loop of creating nothing.
While its never going to be perfect (wew) I’d still love constructive criticism, let me know what you think, and if you see something that could be better, let me know. Every week these animations should be improving.
Hey this is lovely and a good way to go. The timing is great. All I would say for now is a bit more subtle movements in the holds as the characters do feel a little sticky when they hold a pose. Especially when the guy hits the tree. Perhaps a hold of 20 frames or so and he slides down to hit the ground. Or is the video stopping a bit there as the music cuts out ?
Some anticipation or a slight pause from the bear before it walks into the tree cave might help accentuate that moment too. Also the hole looks quite small for him. Perhaps he should need to make more effort there. Sort of like a large cat easing itself awkwardly through a very small cat flap.
Thanks for your feedback Toka, I’ll definitely have to work on the subtle movements.
As for the he hits the tree, I duplicated that frame and softly overlaid music and sound effects so it wouldn’t be so obvious, the reason for doing this was simply because I ran out of time. I had planned on showing the impact of the tree by making his arms swing slightly, and then slide down the tree as you suggested.
The bear crawling through the tree is actually supposed to look magical, basically the trick where there is a small pole, and the person/animal disappears when walking behind it, only for this one the camera angle was not great, the tree was too big and the scenery behind it makes all the brown blend together. Something I’ll have to remember for future.
