weight gradient script for 2.6?

Hi,

does anybody know if an updated version of the “Weight Gradient” script exists? It was in “paint” menu in 2.49 (in weight paint mode).
Or any other method of creating perfectly smooth transitions between two different vertex weights?

I am asking this because I am trying to get a shoulder rig working, and it turns out to be a non trivial task… I am using the rigify script.

I found a solution myself (maybe, not tested throughly yet) - ctrl v menu - “blend vertex group”:

“weight blending (Vertex specials menu), currently blends from surrounding
unselected verts (nice for blending edge loops), but will eventually support
face mask mode.” (this is the comment from the svn commit)

And of course manual painting is the best method, but it would be very nice if the exact numerical value of the vertice weight could be seen in the 3d view, maybe only for the vertices in the selected faces in “face mask mode”, so not to clutter the view. This way painting exact values manually will be much more faster and intuitive, I think.
