Ive been rigging an avatar and having a bit of trouble with weight paint. Particularly with the head. For some reason when i paint the armpits blue under upper arm left and right, it creates red weight under the arms under “head”… wtf? so i paint those blue, it distorts the mesh, and it re adds what i changes from the upper arms face palm is the automatic weights affecting this or is something associated with something that shouldn’t be? i did auto weights and then with empty groups… Very frustrating
Is auto normalize activated?
Maybe you originaly had some paint from the head in the wrong spot and now, the weight paint process keeps blending that wrong influence back in?
I would try arranging the vertex group in edit mode instead of using weight paint, at least to fix that problem. Go into edit mode, select all the body except the head, select the head’s group in the vertex group editor, set the influence to 0 and press assign.
This will ensure your head’s group is completely removed from the body.
Also, check your symmetry settings, you would not want to have the wrong axis activated and mirror your painting between unrelated parts of the body.
Ah auto normalized was checked. i had removed and manually added the weights to work around that previously, big pita though ha. Thanks for the help!
