Weird black and white thingy and everything invisible

A weird white and black thing showed up after i tried to bevel a square. I wanted to add the divits on the pencil end using the boolean modifier, so i tried it out on two squares first to see how it worked. It wasnt working, and i didnt know why. I tried to bevel one square thinking the problem would fix itself. But i broke something, i dont know what it is because i just started blender.

Edit, this is a video of the problem.

Welcome :tada:

you are talking of bevel but you are showing a boolean operation (modifier) on a plane (named Plane) using Difference to your FerrelDents.

Boolean operations are best with “solid” (non-manifold) objects.

You may have to elaborate this to get a more suited answer.
