Firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox, firefox… :stuck_out_tongue:

Only kidding, I have a lot of problems with firefox. I always have to use other browsers.

As for your ‘problem’, can’t you just resize the window manually? It actually looks like you just have to drag the window up a bit. If you’re too lazy to do that, try getting someone nearby to click on the title bar and move the mouse forwards about 3cm. Seriously, why did you start a thread because you’re IE window is like an iota out of place?

You can move it manually can’t you? It’s not locked like that or anything?

As for sorting your pop-up problem… get firefox ;).

Maybe just clean out your disk cache - popups are sometimes stored there. You might want to get a popup killer add-on in future. Doesn’t the google bar do that?

no becouse it was in full size allready so you cant move it. but for some crazy reason it just started working again

Every browser has a storage on your hard drive where it puts web pages when you load them. That means that even though you haven’t visited a site for a while, the page including pop-ups could still be on your hard drive.

I thought emptying the cache would be easier but it seems M$ have built IE fairly tightly into the system. According to a PC site you have to do the following:

Empty your IE cache by closing IE, go to Control Panel>Internet options>Temporary Internet Files>Delete files. That will knock out anything there that’s left.

That’s perhaps one reason why people prefer 3rd party browsers because you can empty the cache and things from the browser and without closing it. Also the better pop-up features mean you never have to.

maybe there are some disadvantages to firefox too…

Of course there are. Nobody said Firefox was perfect. But its leaps and bounds ahead of IE 6.

The solution to your problem with IE IS Firefox. Its ridiculous not to use it. Any security issue with Firefox made public will be corrected with the next release, or soon after. The same is not true of Internet Explorer. (Not to mention that any security issue with Internet Explorer is usually conveniently integrated with your entire operating system. But…thats a feature right?)

Accept no substitutes.

Maybe you should try firefox.

ok I won’t use the “f… ox” word

how about Mozilla 1.73

No browser is the golden bullet to total internet safety and absolutely no problems. For example Firefox is a little less friendly with online gaming then IE and probably a few other things I haven’t noticed much.

Click the maximize button.

Then click my sig.

Browse safely, use Lynx.

I think firefox has to be the most overhyped browser there is.

I use it for most of my internet use but it fails on many levels. It is utterly appalling at playing flash media when it decides to and it handles some Javascript badly.

It is often argued that the flaws are not because of firefox but sites which don’t follow the W3C standards but why do they work in most other browsers? IE, Opera, Safari etc.

One thing they still haven’t fixed is saving links properly. Go to www.yahoo.com and on the sign up link under yahoo mail on the right do right-click save link as. You get an error. Now try it with pretty much every other non-mozilla based browser and it works.

It’s not important there but in yahoo groups, it’s a necessary functionality.

Firefox is good but I’m keeping my backup browsers.

I have lynx actually. It’s surprising how fast the internet moves without all those images and flash media popping up in your face. I can even access my yahoo mail with it.

While other browsers have concentrated on getting terrible code to render correctly firefox seems to adhere to some more strict rules.

Oh and did I forget to mention its still a BETA???

IE 6 <-- SIX version not including the many subversions.
Netscape <-- Also more than six versions
Opera <-- See the pattern developing?

Firefox is VERY young software. Version 1.0 isn’t being released till November 9th. The potential here is key. Its not perfect. But it has fantastic potential. Far more than most alternatives.

Hmmm, I don’t think you can say any browser based on the Mozilla engine is young. That’s like saying Mac OS X is young. Also, I doubt the issues I have will be resolved by Nov 9th.

I hear a lot of people making excuses for firefox’s shortcomings by saying it’s beta but you can call a software beta forever if you like. It’s not a valid excuse. In the time that firefox has been beta, a browser called camino, based on the mozilla engine has gone through about 3 final versions.

I agree with you it has potential though. Mainly because of the extensions. I’m surprised more popular browsers don’t follow suit.

I don’t think it has more potential than other browsers though. Like you say, other browsers allow for peoples’ programming flaws and work past them. Firefox just adheres to a strict standard and so anything that doesn’t follow suit isn’t usable. That IMO is a bad design. Humans aren’t perfect so allowances have to be made for mistakes. Imagine if they remove barriers from the roads and excuse it by saying that you should stay on your own side of the road anyway.

In my town there are no barriers on the roads… just yellow lines…

Regardless, its too early to say its not good software, but its not too early to say its great. I’ve been using Firefox as my primary browser for months now, and I’d never go back. I rarely run into difficulties, and when I do its usually because someone intentionally chose not to support non-i.e. browsers. Your mileage may vary, but for the AVERAGE internet user, Firefox is MUCH better.

Firefox is a little less friendly with online gaming then IE.

How? :o

Anyway, I use Firefox all the time, but if a page doesn’t work properly I simply open IE for that page only, then I close it and continue with FF.

few years ago i found this website that tells you to go into internet options-- advance then enable/disable somthing to stop pop ups yet i cant remember the site and i cant find it if anyone know how to do this pleas ehlp

Fudge

the google toolbar has an ad blocker

iv got the google toolbar yet they still pop up

kansas15: try to install java: www.java.com
also try to install flash and shockwave (but i think you have installed tose already). then you have the most used sollutions for online gaming covered. since ive installed those three i never had any problems with online games.
