Weird effect on model in sculpt mode

Hi! Can anyone tell me why this happens (the weird texture on the head)? It only appears in sculpt mode and I have no idea why it happens.

Check and see if you duplicated the geometry at some point…sometimes we will accidentally hit Shift+D when doing something else and not notice till things like this pop up.

Really dumb question, what do you mean with geometry?

I have used mirror, but my friend who also uses it doesnt seem to have this problem?

(Thank you for commenting by the way!)

You are welcome… Geometry is the Object that you are sculpting on, perhaps I should have said, “see if there is a duplicate MESH / Object, if that helps you.”
I will assume you added a UV sphere to shape the head…

You can actually forget I asked that as I realized you said it ONLY shows in Sculpt Mode and duplicates would show in edit and object modes…so this has to be a different problem…

Can you share the Blend File …( google drive, paste-bin, or any of the other hosting sites, as you might have not been here long enough to upload here) it is hard to tell what the problem may be just from an image…it just could be your clipping distance, which will sometimes produce that on very small objects.

Hi,

Super nice that you want to check.

Here’s a link to my google drive and the blender file. Hopefully it works!

As I said Im a total beginner so sorry if I have made a complete mess.

Thank you, Yes there was at some point duplicated mesh, which was a bit difficult to fix …
I managed to do it using a Limited Dissolve which caused it to get a duplicate onto an outer layer, like some Hull Plating on an aircraft ( I need to see if that is a useful procedure for later work, Thanks for sharing this!)
Any way the scale was not applied which also messed with the Normals… I also reduced the Clipping Distance…which at first but when I applied the rotation and scale shaded smooth and looked again there was a small section that was not affected by shade smooth…
here is what the original looked like here…

and changing the clipping distance still left a small section that would not vanish…

Limited dissolve produced this

Deleting these secondary exterior faces got this…

…
All good to Sculpt now! As a suggestion…always remember to apply scale and rotation to anything you change in any way…and, keep an eye on the Collection window…it will suddenly show that something has been duplicated…

Thank you so much for the help! Its really appreciated!
