These weird bumps in the sim just stay there the whole time. They don’t fade away (I’m using the “dissolve” in this sim), and they don’t move. They’re put there by the initial inflow (it’s an explosion, so it’s fast), but they just stick there. They’re resting on top of an obstacle plane. I need a plane there so the smoke doesn’t just disappear into the ground. Domain is set to “open” because I need the top and sides open, but not the ground, and there’s no option for that.
EDIT: Oh and that scaled cube surrounding the dots is an outflow. It didn’t work.
That could be an old simulation file.
If you hit bake and the simulation begins, the simulation files get stored in your blendcache folder. Sometimes (for example, if you just play the animation and don’t use bake) files get created but not deleted right. What you see then is an old simulation that has only a few frames, maybe just 1.
I had this problem and just deleted the simulation file in the blendcache folder. You basically have two simulations running at the same time.
If this is not the problem, then it could be the collision/emitter object that is causing the problem. Object to close to the domain results in weird bugs and smoke not moving. Another thing could be, that you resized the domain after a simulation. That can cause problems too, if you’re not careful.
The only solution I can think off right now would be to make the domain bigger and use it’s bottom as border.
Or can you just move the plane further away until it fits?
