this is for wc200 of course. instead of making what the cat dragged in, I’m illustrating the phrases common meaning, which is what you say to someone when they show up at three in the morning with gin breath and ripped shirt and a cheap cigar. so i’m going to make a cat, a dog and a mouse arriving at some home in such a state. here’s the kitty so far.
basic dog head. I may give him jowels, i haven’t decided yet.

Great indeed!
thanks env, i worked him a bit more, i’m not sure which version i like better but here’s the slightly more detailed version.

The cat looks really cool! Suggestion for the dog: Maybe make him more aggressive looking?? Cheeks hanging down? Would be cool to see the cartoon shader on this one…
I don’t like the dogs ears, otherwise its great!
Great modelling work!
A bit of minor critique:
- The cat’s eyes seem a little too flat/narrow to me. Make them a little more
round maybe? - Also, the cat’s nose and the bridge of the nose, seems a bit too big. It’s kinda
too prominent for my taste.
Hope that helps.

Very nice modeling, Modron. This will be a fun project to watch

thanks guys. i decided to keep the mouse fairly simple since he’s going to be about a tenth the size of the other characters. so now i have three untextured heads anyway. i figure that’s a start.

finished the mouse.

The characters have so much emotion. Ha, keep it up.
Mm… compared to the other two characters, the mouse looks a bit too poor, also arms and legs doesn’t fit well with the body.
My 2 cents, of course.
thanks guys, i was thinking the same thing about his arms and legs actually, i will try to make them more mouse like. i don’t think i will spend too much time with details though, since he will be very small.
(edit) ok, i changed him a bit. i think he looks better.

Yep, better, but I’d shorten the arms a bit.
This is cool! I’m not good with organic shapes, otherwise I would enter… I have a good idea in mind for what I would do, if I could model it.
Looks great, I really like the style. I’ve been working on my cartoony stuff lately, so seeing this is a real inspiration.
Tynach, with the detailed manufactured-looking stuff you do I have no doubt you could make it in organic stuff too. The best place to practice BY FAR is WC’s. I would have said the same about my organic stuff two months ago but after doing 3 wc’s with characters I’m getting results I’m really happy with. (The first of the 3 ended up being absolute garbage by the way.) It’s just a matter of getting used to subsurfaces.
[edit] Oops, that was 4 wc’s with characters… the first was so bad I didn’t even put it on my webpage!
thanks guys, nearly finished with the cat. i probably need to add to his tail a bit.

Your heads looked promising (except for the mouse), but the bodies were not as good as I’d have expected.
Aligorith
Yes, i agree with Aligorith… The heads show emotion, but the body is too plane as shape is concerned. For me the cat seems to have a humanlike figure, so adding a bit more distinct human character (if human pose is what you’re going for) would probably help. Beer belly for the cat maybe? I like the mouse though
the bodies aren’t going to get much more detailed due to the fact that i still have to paint everything and finish the rest of the scene, but i think you’ll like them better when they are posed. I may use lattice distortions on them too.
