What am I doing wrong with my donut?

So I’m trying to use the porportional editing using random, but every time I do so, the glaze goes through the donut, have started from 0 a lot of times and I have the same result, if someone knows what I’m doing wrong I’d be very thankful.

Real glazes have thickness. Try using the Solidify modifier on it. You can apply that later and then vary the thickness.

You could also try popping into Sculpt mode and using the Blob brush to raise up an areas of the glaze that have fallen into the other object.

Hi thanks for thanking the time, funny enough it has solidify, I was following a tutorial step by step from the beginning, and the guy doing the tutorial just manages to nail it, I’ve gotten the result I wanted in my attempts to make it look fine but I did other stuff that are out of the tutorial and the results are not as good.

Is it the Blender Guru tutorial? I was able to replicate the steps he took. There are two ways of handling the Solidify modifier. You can Solidify outwards adding thickness to the glaze object from the donut out, or you can scale up the base glaze mesh and then solidify in to meet the surface of the donut again. In your views on the right it looks like the glaze starts on the surface of the donut and is then solidified inwards rather than outwards.

Yes, it’s him, I actually tried scaling it before but it was the same result, I was probably doing it in the wrong way probably, and yes you’re right, just now playing with the thickness, changed the value to negative and I think I got it
