What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to bake my high poly onto my low poly and for some reason I am getting this when finished. any help would be appreciated

Mind uploading your blend file? It’s hard to take a guess based upon that single baked image.

sorry about that. I hope this helps.

Dice001.blend (1.3 MB)

As per your question, I’m no expert with baking, I don’t know what you did wrong to get a normal map like that. But I can show you how to produce the correct result.

This is the result taken straight from your blend file, but with sub-division level 2 applied to your HP object. Your LP object as it stands is scaled smaller than the HP.

This is the same file, everything untouched, but using the PBR Normal bake from Simple Bake addon which uses an Extrusion setting of 0.1 and automatically sets the image texture node to non-color. I haven’t done that with the rest of the images but you should.

This is the result after scaling your LP object back up to 1 and most other settings untouched.

This is with Extrusion set to 2mm. It’s probably good enough to use 1mm, I haven’t tried that, and you should play around with this setting to see what gives you the best result. Generally, you want the object you’re baking onto just slightly larger than the high poly mesh, not the other way around.

Thank you so much I will try this when I get home and let y’all know if it worked for me. I completely forgot about the size of my LP needing to be larger.
