What are the BA server specs?

Hi,

As I’m just discovering discourse, I was wondering : What are the server “minimum” specs for running a forum like BA for example ?

  • CPU usage (for example, is a 6th gen i7 @ 3.4GHz enought) ?
  • Disk space growing (How many extra GB/month) ?
  • How many requests/page load per month ?

Maybe the best would be to ask bartv, but I guess he is already busy with MP’s.

Right now, Blender Artists serves about 4.5 million page views/month. Our setup is:

  • 12 core Intel Xeon E5-1650V2, usually at < 30% CPU utilization
  • 64G Ram (utilised for only about 50%)
  • 480G SSD

Static site assets are cached by Cloudflare’s CDN.

Disk use is about 3GB/week at this moment, but as our traffic is steadily growing this will increase.

Wow, I thought the disk usage would be a lot more ! 3GB/week, you could survive more than 6 years with 1TB, impressive :laughing:
