What book on blender would you recommend to start with?

I don’t know any beginners book but if you’re from Germany (or speak german) check out the video2brain beginners DVD. It’s definitely a great introduction to Blender!

That is a good one. I think a few things changed since then but if you get stuck you can always ask here. Just do a search first to see if it has been asked before.
