What did I do?

Hey guys!

I’m a bit new to texturing. And WAS having this problem.
I was painting this texture onto a model - and everything looked alright in the viewport.
But the renderings looked off - like the UV’s got torn apart down the center.

So I was looking around on forums, websites, etc. I just started clicking and hunting randomly through menus, not really paying attention.
Then POOF the problem went away! The renders looked exactly as they should. I tried undoing to when it was broken to pinpoint my solution - but the undo didn’t go back enough. Now I can’t figure out what I did.

So technically I have no pending problems - but I’d like to know how I fixed this problem - the next time it happens. I don’t like to rely on luck.

Next time it happens, please upload a render.

it could have been a whole pile of things including how you mapped it (i.e. global, UV, orco…) or whether you had Sub-surf UV’s selected…

Thanks Alltaken,

Even those ideas you mentioned are a good start for me. I was using subsurf and I’ll look into orco and global UV coordinates.

if the texture looked sideways, you could have flipped the XYZ mapping too. Chances are it was something on the Map Input panel, if you did the application the correct way using a texture channel.
