What does bake mean ? :)

i know it might be a silly question but ((as a noob about 11 years old)) its important to me .:yes:
i want to know what is the function of bake ??? and when i use it blender sometimes CRASHES . i treid it and saw no changes in the mesh

To put it simply, when you bake something you add indirect lighting to it in advance. It helps to develope a more realistic feal to the animation. An easier way, if your animating, is to wait till your about to hit the animate button and turn on ambient occlusion. This is from what i’ve gathered. Not sure I’m entirely correct.
