What format is the SECOND best option after EXR?

Hi . Im trying to render a sequence to work with and the only bad thing is that I dont want it to be in EXR because the format is to heavy. Im not sure if png format with be good enough ir if there is another type of fyle that still may maintin more quality but still be a bit lighter than an exr file.

TIFF format would work. It supports 8 and 16 bit images, as well as Alpha.

Tiff is also quite hard drive intensive I must say. It really depends what you want to do with the sequence afterward. If no or little color and contrast correction is involved and you don’t need alpha or the flexibility of render passes for compositing, you might even get away with something like jpg.

True. I guess I was thinking MultiLayerEXR’s which are very big in comparison to just single layer EXR, I checked both sizes on my drive and TIFF would actually outweigh a single EXR so yeah nevermind…

i see! yeah i was think on bringin every pass on diferente layers insead of multiexr pass. What im lloking for is maybe some kind of optimization because multiexr renders are then very heavy to work in after effects for example and im not sure if there was a better way or format. Maybe separaitng the file instead of using muti exr will work. Thnaks a lot for the info!!

wow also this is amazing! Im going to read it right through! thanks a lot!
