What happens if i load a corrupted fbx file

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a good day. I’m a game modder (for personal use i don’t want to rip off others hard work). So i use this software to extract models from unity, once again only for 100% personal use (i hate when people steal models form hardworking artists. The thing is if i extract in one way i get a 10.2kb file… if i extract in another i get a hundreds of kb (under 1 mb usually) file.

Now my question is if the .fbx with hundreds of kb is corrrupted and i load it into blender can something bad happen/blender gets damaged?

I plan on importing many of the fbx’s into blender then joining them then exporting to fbx that ill open in 3ds max.

I’m only using the .fbx for placeholders until i can pay some artist to do unique versions of them.

Kind regards!

Hi, if it’s corrupt it wouldn’t open.

Why not learn to model yourself?

Hi welcome to the forum. One thing first, discussing the process of r-i-p-p-ing isnt allowed on blenderartists as topic as its tightly coupled with illegal behaviour. So be aware of that. Still as you’re question is in principle just about the risk of importing corrupt fbx files to blender. Importers typically have lots of checks builtin and if errors occur they simply stop the import of the given file, if the file is valid they create blenders internal structures and fill those with fitting values of the data read, so no you wont break blender that way.
