What is better for VFX? Particle and Physics Simulator built in blender? Or Geometry Nodes?

Hello, I am trying to learn Geometry and Simulation Nodes for Blender, however, no tutorials online explain the “who, what, when, where, and why” about a majority of the nodes. For the tutorials, they all use different methods, for example, Velocity on the Simulation Nodes are done differently from user to user. Is it better to just use the Fluid Domains and other Physics Blender uses??

Also, is there any classes online that will teach EVERYTHING about Geometry Nodes and Simulation Nodes? Thanks

Welcome :tada:

that’s the general “problem” when having an application where you can do sooo much… there are simply different ways possible and for any question like: “What is better ?”, the answer will always be: “It depends…”

Do learn Geometry Nodes (GN) (or any other “programming language”) you mostly have to undestand the principles behind it. Some people learn with lots of examples and somehow get an impression of the the general idea behind it (or they believe so) and other what to learn every single instruction/function/node and then build up whateve the think they need (maybe even ignoreing some basic concepts of the system).
I even guess the developers are sometimes impresses what users do with the geometry nodes.

So there are a lot more (maybe unanserable) questions about this:
Do someone knew everthing about GN ? Maybe. Does (s)he even offer any tuorials/course ? Does the offered style of teaching suits you?

Also: As you yourself didn’t give any more information about you skills or knowledge level this question can only replied by some hints about what others liked but unsuitable for you. On the other hand any dislikes also may be liked by you.

So i guess you have to have a look at some tutors, like for example

https://www.youtube.com/@Erindale

https://www.youtube.com/@CurtisHolt

…which both are not the most entertaining tutors… but you want to learn something and not to be entertained, right ?

And of course there are more…

And I almost forgot VFX… well there are others too
