What is the most efficient baking Workflow?

Hey Guys,

baking was always annoying - especially in cycles.
But normally I just got over it and did it…
But I am sitting in front of a scene right now and I have to bake dozens of little assets into albedos, normals, ao’s and Edgemaps, and it is driving me crazy…

So… This is what I am doing right now:


  1. I create a new UVMap just for the baking…


  2. I smart unwrap it (in this case I dont need clean UV’s - otherwise i would unwrap it by hand at this stage)


  3. I give each Imagetexture its corresponding UV-map, otherwise blender mixes it up (and I do that for every Material on the object).

  4. I create my Image for the baking process…

  5. I paste said Image into every Assigned Material and make it active.

  6. Bake

…And this whole proces times three for the normals etc… Also baking normalmaps is annoying, since I have to make the normal maps an Emission output, and so on and so forth…

And now, I have to do this a few dozen times for all the objects in the Project…

Please tell me there is a faster way to do it, or an addon maybe. It is driving me crazy :frowning:
