what is this?

when i was downloading the new version of blender and I saw this image http://www.blender3d.org/_gfx/homepage/screenbuddha_l.jpg It looks like theres a polygon to the left of the mouth that has a vertex that doesnt continue thru it as it were a five side polygon?

They’re fgons – “fake ngons” – see Fake Polygons at http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Mesh_editing_rewrite.425.0.html .

its an F-Gon

select multiple faces (that are adjacent) and press [f]+[create F-Gon]

hmm when i do it it says fgon: make/clear i click make then it says “no faces selected to make an fgon” whats with that?

well, you have to

select
two (or more)
adjacent
faces…

you may be missing any of the four things above…

oh thanks, what i was doing wrong is select 5 verts (no faces) and pressing f make fgon but what fgon does it merge faces so i need to to begin with
