Just curious. I’m a real mixed bag when it comes to that, but I’m very picky about my music. The few things I do have I love and listen to over and over again. Anyway here’s all the albums in my entire music collection so far. Yes, it’s so tiny I can post it all.
The Fellowship of the Ring soundrack - By: Howard Shore
The Two Towers soundtrack - By: Howard Shore
The Return of the King soundtrack - By: Howard Shore

Star Wars Ep. II soundtrack - By: John Williams
Star Wars Ep. III soundtrack - By: John Williams
Star Wars Ep. IV soundtrack - By: John Williams

Star Wars Ep. VI soundtrack - By: John Williams
Toccata in Fugue in D minor - By: Johann Sebatian Bach, as performed by organist Virgil Fox
My wishlist: The soundtracks for all three POTC movies.
Mostly classic rock. My favorite bands are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns 'n roses, Queen, Pink Floyd, some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, Scorpions, Pearl Jam, Metallica…I’m probably missing some.
I also like several sountracks, namely the LOTR ones…Howard Shore is a genius.
Fallen - By: Evanescence
Awesome album. One of my all time favorites, not to mention my first real album.
I have a lot of soundtracks, LOTR, Star Wars, Finding Neverland, and the like, and a few rock albums, such as Sing the Sorrow, Decemberunderground, Meteora, Hybrid Theory, and Fallen.
I’m extremely picky, though, so my collection of albums is pretty limited compared to most people’s that I know.
p.s. My favorite soundtrack that I have is Pan’s Labyrinth. The lullaby theme that the score is built around is amazing.
You can say that again… He’s released extended editions of both the FOTR and TT soundtracks, but so far no extended ROTK soundtrack. I really want all the extended ones, I just wonder if he’s coming out with an ROTK one. Especially for this song. One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard, it sends shivers down my spine.
@DwarvenFury: I love that album too, I was just listening to ‘Imaginary’ in a loop for a while tonight. I mainly bought the album for ‘Bring Me to Life’, but the rest of the album is almost as good if not better.
Yes! (Although I’m not specifically familiar with that artist)
My playlist lately:
Rimsky-Korsakov, Scheherazade
Tchaikovsky, Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, 1812 Overture
Shostacovich, String Quartets
Philip Glass, Symphonies 2 & 3, Violin Concerto
Mendelssohn, Violin concerto
Berlioz, Symphony fantastique
Stravinsky, Rite of Spring, Petrushka, Card Game, The Fairy’s Kiss
Jan Morgenstern, Elephant’s Dream soundtrack
Holst, The Planets
Soundtracks from Myst and Darwinia games…
The Incredibles, music from credits
anything except rap, hip-hop, pop, or gospel/overly religious music. normally, i listen to hard rock and metal, but anything with a techno beat gets me goin’. also, i can settle for classical music, but only if i’m trying to relax (very rarely can i rock out to it).
Favorite artists/bands:
Metallica
Megadeth
Hell Yeah
Pantera
Ozzy Osbourne (and all his bands)
Rob Zombie
Static-X
Bush
Smashing Pumpkins
Clutch
Wolfmother
Chevelle
Velvet Revolver
Stone Temple Pilots
Audioslave
Soundgarden
The Prodigy
Paul Oakenfold
i know i missed a couple dozen, and i should mention i listen to anime soundtracks as well. sometimes, it’s just the sound that matters.
My favorite piece of music has always been theme of the Superman movies… this might be weird to some people but its the only one that takes me way back to a time when I was a kid.
Haha, well, my tase in music is probably also quite crazy…
I do listen a lot to Classical works, Symphonic Metal (and Metal in general, mostly melodic stuff), Soundtracks (indeed, Howard Shore and John Williams are fantastic!, besides that mostly Anime OSTs) and Videogame music (especially fanmade remixes and orchestral interpretations!).
Other than that I like everything else, too, but there are some things I can’t stand such as Rap / HipHop and Techno (most of Techno…).
anything witch isent modern pop, yuck! like some old pop. but i mostly lissen to heavy metal, metalica, moterhead etc. I dont know that meny bands. i also like clasical music ocationaly.
Static X - Shadow Zone. kicks ass. they do really fast techy/metal stuff.
The Prodigy - Fat of the Land. good stuff. they do techno, but it’s heavy.
Alice in Chains - Greatest Hits. very harmonic, hard rock stuff. don’t hear many bands like them.
I got more random mp3s than full albums, which is really quite a shame when I only have one song from a really good band.
also I like video game music. I would love to see an orchestra do Final Fantasy music some day (been done before, but I never got to see it). I try and stick to fast music, or else I pass out, though if I do feel like listening to classically-styled music, I’ll go get some Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
I can’t remember if you saw the post about this before LoTRJ, but there’s a bunch of creative commons licensed electronica, among other genres, here: http://www.jamendo.com/en/?p=tags
Note that there are a lot of French artists, it started out as a French service. There are a fair number of bands from the US and other countries popping up though.
As for what I like, I’m in a bit of a transitory period right now so I’ll tell ya’ll later!
I listen to a mess of music from across the board, but I’m pretty picky about which specific songs I choose. ATM, it’s mostly:
-Linkin park
-Frog machine- possibly the best music ever written, along with…
-the HL2 soundtrack
-Jedi Mind Tricks
-Tosca Tango Orchestra
-Mark Schwaber (another competitor for the best music ever award, IMO, too bad he’s only released 1 album)
-Arctic Monkeys
[edit] I don’t listen to music as a pass time, so much as to set a mood. For example, if I’m working on a picture or story, I’ll listen to music that matches that mood. Thus, I tend to listen to darker stuff, and ambient music more than more intricate and complex stuff.
