What kind of paint?

Hey I have been lurking on this forum for a long time, but only now decided to join. To see if any blender artist knows what kind of paint these artists used for these paintings?

The one with the man dressed in red is made by a different artist than the other two. So I don’t think it’s the same paint as the other ones. By the way merry christmas

The first is possibly lithography?
The other two are possibly frescos?
The image quality is rather low so it’s hard to tell because the details are lost.

The first one was made by artist Arthur Rackham and the two others are made by Larry MacDougall. Two great artists, but I haven’t been able to figure out how they create their awesome paintings. What paint and tools they use that is…

Those MacDougall ones look to me like pencil and waterpaint.

it is more than just the tools used. you could give me davencis entire entie art kit and i’m not going to give you back a new mona lisa. tools are only as good as the hands that hold them.

That’s true, but what are you implying? Should aspiring artists give up because they can’t (yet) paint like the experts? Nutting out the media used in works you’re inspired by is a scholarly approach to the path of success.

no the oposite. dont be dispointed when newer or better tools get the same result. amd if you are on a budget go with the cheaper tools that have enough precision to match your talents. practice causes improvment much more than new tools. you only need new tools when you max out your old ones and still cant get the result you need. water based acrylics aare the most used for the ease of clean up and you can use it as thick as picasso did or dilute it to water color. the first is pen and water color, the others pencil and watercolor.

Yeah it seems like you are right…but you forgot one thing. Ink…maybe you need more training still lol You see in the first one it’s ink…hahah…practise makes perfect as my mother used to say.

i must say this is awesome what ever paint is
