Well, I was working on this for the weekend challenge, but classes got in the way and I couldn’t finish it. Oh well. Anyhow, this is what I’ve got so far (the ship is new; the beach scene in the background I’ve been working on for a while).

I was wondering, is there any way to get the subsurfing to only be applied in a certain direction (I guess that’s the best way to put it)? For example, I would rather the beams on the ship’s masts be subsurfed to cylinders rather than rounded out along with the rest of the ship. Here’s what the model looks like in the 3d view.
