What would cause different colored areas on mesh?

I am working on a mesh and it has a couple of area that don’t render the same as the other areas.

Just above the eye and below the mouth are lighter areas and I can not figure out why. The vertice and face normals are all facing out, textures and lighting don’t have any effect on it, it looks fine in display texture mode. It only shows up in renders.

Any help will go a long way to regaining my sanity.


Could be just a shadow/light. It looks like it might come between fingers from below. Are you sure it’s ok with normals and double vertices?

Man am I feeling stupid. You nailed eppo, I had a light down low that was hidden I had forgot about. Thanks a lot for the quick response.
