what are you trying to unwrap?
organic models are well suited to wings3d style unwrapping which is in tuhoppu2 now
lizard809 [he has another name here i think] made a script which is very nice at uvmapping flat surfaces [like buildings], you simply assign the textures and run the script
there are some scripts for sphere unwraps and stuff, but there is no script [even the one I started planning on doing] that is the best
