…is it there? Is it not? Is it BEING developed, WILL it be, or is it just dead? Anybody here USE it? Is it any good?
There is still activity: https://github.com/NatronGitHub/Natron/graphs/commit-activity
It’s quite good. Can deal with scene referred data.
Quite some plugins as well. Didn’t use it for a while but I should. It’s inspired by Nuke.
On website, there is still a banner saying “Maintainer Needed”.
I am not sure that situation has really changed since that article.

Ah good to know, cause I plan to try out VFX software sometime. What does it do, and is it comparable to like, Smoke?
Natron is in maintenance mode for now. Devs have stated in the past that they doesn’t have quality time to work on it, so for now development is slow, but Frédéric and Ole-André are still trying to release the 3.0 version sometime down the road.
Natron tries to be kinda a clone of Nuke (Look and feel at least), so any experience and tutorials from Nuke should apply there. It doesn’t have all the functionality, but depending on what you want/need to do, it can be good enough.
Good to know!
