Does anyone know why multilayerExr files don’t allow access to layers from scenes other than the one from which the composite was rendered? I’ve known about this linitation for a while but now it’s starting to get to me. Sure, the image info is available in the composite layer but I’m trying to render a 5 scene setup with six render layers and I can only access the two that are rendered from the main scene. I had hoped 2.45 would allow access to the other scenes but it doesn’t work there either.
On a side note does anyone know a way to limit rendering to a range of frames when using renderlayers from alternate scenes in the compositor? So far no matter what I set my other scene’s range of frames to within the scenes themselves, those scenes render in my composite according to the number of frames in the main scene. This really dampens workflow for me. I know I could use the sequencer for this but it really cramps my style so I don’t get along with it very well.
I guess what this all boils down to is that I’ve gotten to the point where I’m able to set everything up to render in one pass with the need for only minor adjustments after the fact so I’d like to be able to get all of my passes, scenes, and layers into one completely accessible file so I can just click Animate and get on to something else.
