What's wrong with poor Gus?

Hi, I’m new to Blender and was trying my best to follow along with the tutorial by building my own little Gus. I must be missing a major concept/step here because when I build my gus he’s flat as a pancake but towards the end of creating Gus the directions indicate he’s ‘fat’ and we want to thin him out. On mine his head is pretty fat but the rest of him is one pixel thick. I know at the beginning I think the directions were trying to get me to remove most of the original cube that’s built - so I started removing vertices until I was left with a square and then starting extruding per the directions. Anyone know what I’m missing here?

moved this one to Support -> modeling from Tutorial since it contains that question.

admin.

Hmmm, I think this had been addressed in the previous thread

For anyone reading this for the first time, I believe this is another instance of the limit selection problem that befalls many a Gus modeller.

Since this question was asked, the wiki tutorial has been edited so that the Limit Selection information shows up (it was always there but was invisible - as were a number of other comments, all of which should now be visible too).
