any ideas on how to improve this? his eyes seem wrong but i cant put my finger on it.
Not an expert in anatomy but I’d say his eyes are too high which results in a very small forehead.
put a ruler to the screen after reading this haha and nope, the head was 4 cm and the eyes exactly 2 cm from the chin. but i agree his forehead does seem to be too small. maybe the hair line is too low?
Eyes are ok to my mind. It’s shadow in the inner corner of the left eye that creates the effect as if eyes are different.
have you got a bump/normal for skin pores in your material? The skin looks too smooth.
ah yeah the shadow does mess it up! the left eye looks more angled and differently shaped with it. good catch! been staring at it to long went blind to it haha and yeah i used just a normal map. The effect with just the normal map didnt really bring up the details unless you zoom in. I was trying to get a spec map on to highlight the norm map in some areas but it didnt really work so well so chucked it. will have another go with spec map. so I think next time ill combine a normal with a displacement and micro bump to try and really bring out the detail thanks
It is really hard to properly help you with only that image, you may want to go to the focus critic of realistic characters on my signature if you want some anatomy critic. Anyhow, it is looking realy nice already.
To me, his features look to be within the normal range of possibilities for a human male. The only part that may be a bit off is the bottom of his nose – to my eyes the tip and sceptum appear a bit too flat vertically. But I could be wrong.
