What's your favourite thing about elYsiun?

Mines that the generous spirit of users inspires others to be generous too.

the scent

Just the Forum and the sfeer around all the Blender people here. It’s great to talk about blender with people all around the world. I also made some friends here, and it’s just great to work together on a game, animation or whatever. :stuck_out_tongue:

So many things: community friendship and support (forum and irc chat) and weekend challanges (so stimulating!). Goo dto see the strengths of Blender too.

the forum.

It helps make the subject of 3D computer graphics accessable, even to
someone like me.

I would whole-heartedly agree with that, tacking on also the fact that the users here are so widely varied (and generally mature). There are men and women, people from (I believe) all six inhabited continents, social liberals, social conservatives, in-betweeners, religiously-involved, atheists, just everything. And we are united in our pursuance of art and making a statement and we’re all in a stage of expressing our inner thoughts as art (everything from being a newbie to a CG god  ). And also we can’t neglect the programmers/Python scripters who do everything from making export scripts to adding large features to Blender itself. (I probably fall closer to this category myself, but I’m most certainly on the script kiddie end :expressionless: )

P.S. Hmm, that turned into quite a speech didn’t it?

The Community spirit, which is always there to help.

I like the monkeys best of all.

Sonix.

Wouldn’t it be cool (no pun intended) if we could convince the next antarctic expedition to take a copy of blender with them. Even just a simple render of suzanne from the bottom of the world would take blender further than 3dsmax or maya have ever been.

It’s impressive just how many (different) people use blender. The community is by far the best part of blender (and Elysiun). This smiley ( :Z ) is a close second.

Hey do the antarctic divisions have forums? maybe we couyld join em and try to convince them to bring Blender to a new frontier!

The Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station has a contact in Boulder, Colorado. The contact (phone, email, address) is listed at http://www.cmdl.noaa.gov/obop/spo/. I can’t find any forums, but maybe a few thousand polite emails would do the trick. I would even be willing to submit an appropriate .blend file, so all they have to do at the pole is F12.

This is my contribution to modern science.

Another way, I liek about elysiun forum, is because I’ve used many forums, but they all get annoyed afther a while, and then kick or ban people without reasons, or just because yo said. That admin sucks, or, say what you think about the people who screw or blame you.

On elysiun forum, the people are really friendly helpfull, and if some gets some great info or help, that person would help another people. And that’s the way I like this forum. And ofcourse the off topic place.

Yes I think the admins are very even handed.
And lenient too which seem fitting to the nature of Blender and its community. These little things go a long way to defining the quality of a community.

Everything:

  • The colour scheme
  • The community
  • There are no 3 meg, 1936x922 sized images in the sigs
  • The all-you-can-eat buffet

I like it here.

The maturity (i mean, seriousnes) of the users (or most at least :stuck_out_tongue: )… this is such an organized forum compared with others… I really love reading the posts here, even if I don’t know anything about the subject, because I always end up learning something new. The admins are a charm, the community… is a community… (yay)… and well, I simply love it… oh, it’s also simple and not overloaded with colors and imgs and stuff… it’s so easy on my dial-up conection

But what I think is above all of this, is obviously the elysiun BANNER

(any of you remeber the OOOOLD layour of elysiun, has someone got a copy of it? I feel nostalgic  )

Yes, the forum is very mature, nice, tolerant, and helpful.

hmm, what i like best, eh?
the community
