What's your workflow?

blender: model
photoshop cs3: textures
hypershot: render
cs3: image correct

depends really, i mean this is my flow for a car.

lol did you rip the products or are you usually the trials and reset your computer when ever your trials run out 0.o

I don;t know why noone likes you, that was hilarious!

anyyyyyway, my workflow:

  • pen, pencil, paper, PS, gimp and illustrator for concept and storyboarding
  • cinema4d for modelling, rigging, animation, particles
  • bodypaint for texturing
  • cinema4d for rendering
  • afterFX, blender for compositing
  • avid, premiere for editing
  • camtasia for screen capture
  • sorensen squeeze, tmpgenc, handbrake for encoding
  • encore for authoring
  • nero/imgburn for mastering
  • flash, dreamweaver and director for interactive work

oh, incidentally, does anyone know of good project management tools? I’m looking for hours tracking, critical path analysis etc. Someone suggested Gridiron flow - anyone know if it’s any good?

Dan

a 15 year old.

Is everyone here 15? (me included)

no, some are younger, but the younger ones are usually really egnorent, and I’m sometimes I’m ashamed to be part of them :\

Yea, you kids can’t spell either.

LOL

Now I laughed at the post above real hard

LMFAO

Anyway… 'aghrrrr me harties…

Who said anything about pirating? As others have stated I ‘work’ in the industry… where I am everyone has a job when they’re young, better build up your portfolio young. And when you’re young you really don’t have to pay bills or anything. The reason I can afford pricy stuff… Also it helps when your whole family is graphics artists (for a living) So I assure you the PS:MS was legal

Not saying a word about the other software…

No wonder your soo good! I knew it…

Chresus Jist! You have a CG job at 15? What, did you drop out of school?

No, I’m in 11th grade… Actually turning 16 though =P

I freelance work mostly, and a part time job.

Modelling: Blender.
Unwrapping: Blender.
Textures/Concepts: GIMP.
Rendering: BIender, Yafaray, Luxrender - depends.
Animation: Blender.
Coffeemaker: Staying awake.
Postpro: Blender (Node editor) & GIMP.

Also partly using: Qtpfsgui (for tonemapping HDRs), Gile[s] for baking out HQ-lightmaps.

I just like having everything in one suite…
My software combination solves also the paying problem for me

Thats what I was thinking…

I doubt that, maybe a few jobs helping out mum or dad here and there, but no serious company would hire a 16/15 year old to do CGI. And no offense Killer but I haven’t seen anything yet from you that would equal industry standard work, let alone enough to get you into a proper career.

So you can keep fooling all the noobs around here, but the rest of us aren’t so impressed by your ‘god like’ self proclaimed status.

Eek, got into a bit of a rant there

Anyways, on topic, I use:

Blender (3D work)
GIMP (2D stuff)
Audacity (Sound stuff)
Premier Pro or Blender (Editing)

Also looking into purchasing Syntheyes for tracking, Id rather pay for it than use something thats not getting me good results (and taking years to calculate) like Voodoo or Icarus.

Theres no need for the massive list of over priced software, you know your stuff and you can do it all with 4-5 programs.

Pencil+Paper -> ideas and sketched
Small Whiteboard -> more ideas and more sketches
GIMP -> half-decent 2d images
Notepad++ -> coding
Löve2D -> put it all together

Oh, and I suppose I use blender every now and then when I’m bored

So it was pirating.

Who hires 15 year olds to do CGI work? Unless you got some yet unseen, at least on this here forum, prodigious skills. My skeptical always on the negative side of things in life brian says your good ship sails under the jolly roger.

Concept Art - Pencil and Paper + Wacom Intuos 3 tablet
2D Art/Web/Pixel - Photoshop CS4
3D Modelling/Texturing/Animation - Blender
Audio Production - Reaper
Video Editing - Sony Vegas
Video Compositing - Adobe After Effects
Game Engine - Torque Game Engine w/ MMOKIT

Heh, that’s fine, this is a blender forum, I post my blender work here. No other work. I use Maya, I never said I work for a studio, or big company…

could we see some of this other work? or do you have some NDAs preventing you from showing it?

Uh huh…

And your business plan is to undercut the competition by not paying the license fees for the software you use in your freelancing? You do realize those costs are tax deductible (and a requirement under current IP laws) don’t you?

Sourcing your tools on the black market is one way to keep costs low I suppose.

Blender - Modeling
Blendigo, Indigo exporter - Set up materials
Photoshop CS4 - Textures
Indigo - Rendering
Photoshop CS4 - Post-pro
