When an image is applied, the faces are black.

For some reason, when I apply an image to a set of UV’s, everything shows up black. The only way to get rid of this, seems to be to make a new mesh. The faces aren’t doubled since, when I remove doubles, it does nothing, flipped the normals- nothing, recalculated the normals outside-nothing.


Any thought as to how to remove this problem? I can’t figure out what it is.

I don’t see a black image? Anyhow, try removing any Vertex Color, or set Vert Color to white.


There it is purple but that is because it is highlighted. Notice that you can’t see any details in the belt itself. That gray pattern on the Image is what I want to show up on the model but the model itself shows up as just plain black.

You have the selected UVMap over a black part of the image, just move it over the grey.
