When I select 2 vertices and try to extrude, the vertices make there own separate sel

When I select 2 vertices and try to extrude the vertices make there own separate selections instead of making one selection with 2 vertices in it.

I am doing this tutorial
Your First Animation in 30 plus 30 Minutes Part II am trying to make this

I got down to here

When I try to make the other leg it does not work because when I select the 2 vertices they make there own separate
selections like this

I don’t know why it’s doing this and I don’t know how to fix it

Can anyone help me?

I don’t know why it doesn’t just extrude like the other side

(I don’t have a middle mouse button)

I think you in that tut you are supposed to be in mirror mode (mirror modifier applied). It looks like you are
doing it piece by piece (which is okay, just not like the tutorial).
If you want to extrude that leg, got to ‘face select’ mode, select that bottom face and then extrude.

But when I try to do that the leg is not flat anymore, it sticks out directly at me, I want it to be flat like the other leg

Okay thank you, by telling me about the face select, I looked and I saw the edge select next to it, and I was able to do it ! :)!
