When is a modifier applied in the viewport (with keyframes) ?

Hi all,

may be I am missing something here but:
In the Outliner:
An object with keyframes is visible in the viewport when the “Eye” is like this:

and not visible when “Eye” is like this:

But in the modifier panel for a given object:
the modifier is NOT applied in the viewport when “Eye” is like this:

I am confused here, it seems to be reversed between the outliner and the modifier panel…

Yes. One is restrict and the other is display. Just the opposite. Maybe you can shoot a memo to Jonathan Williamson or Pablo Vazquez over at Blender Institute on the UI team. Good catch.
