Does anyone know what version the game engine will be back in, or if it will be back at all? If so, do you know what changes and additions there will be?
There are a couple coders working hard at reintegrating the game engine for future releases but at this point its impossible to tell when that will finally happen because its open source software and the coders work at their leisure. The best place to get up-to-date information on game engine progress would be blender.org.

There is a little there, but perhaps the developers meet on some irc channel?
From everything I’ve heard, it’s coming back in next official release.
