… Santa decided to go on foot. Tell me what you think about what I’ve got so far :
When I get to texturing, the snails will leave behind a nice slimy trail and I’ll be tweaking them so they don’t all look the same (the front one will have a red nose too). Any suggestions appreciated
That’s were I got the idea, but I didn’t think I’d get it done in time – but it’s actually moving along pretty quick
Well there’s a first for everything, right?
Anyways, here’s some progress on setting the scene:
The snow meeting the sidewalk still needs some work, along with the curb on the other side of the street :x sigh. And now I’m off to texture the snails and the sled!
There’s going to be a lot of children who won’t get gifts until July.
My first question is about your scene… where is that supposed to be located? If at the north pole… why is there road with lines on it?
My only other question is about your snails… right now there obviously duplicates. I was wondering if you planned on giving them slight personalities like the different reindeer have in various interpretations of the famous eight.
I’m not exactly sure where it’s supposed to located (lol), but basically the concept is they were trying to use the road – and it didn’t work. And yes, I’m going to tweak them all so they’re different.
Here’s my progress for the night:
Any suggestions appreciated (need too ) Almost all of the textures are WIP, because most of them are off in one way or another :x . I just need some opinions: which textures should stay and which should go/be changed? And also, ideas on shell and the actual snail textures – mine failed miserably lol
The road and snow need a lot of work. The road needs bump mapping and needs to be a smaller texturewise. The snow make work better as a mesh it shouldn’t be too hard to model snow I think.
Lol, this is great! Santa’s so late that he’s delivering in the daytime!
I think that the materials are ok, but the lighting could use some work. At the moment, the light is casting fairly long shadows, so I assume that it’s morning. However, the color of the light and shadows doesn’t make is look like morning. If it’s near noon, I think that the color of the lights is alright, but they need to be pointing almost straight down. You might also make the lights a bit more blueish so that the image is more frosty and feels cold.
Yeah, I’m not sure why the road looks so bad atm, it’s super high resolution (maybe too high? lol)… Maybe it’s because it’s being squashed; I’ll try UV mapping and see if it looks better. And I’ll fix the snow later, kind of a placeholder right now.
I’m working on more modeling right now (of what now is the empty wall with a door) and more texture tweaking. I thought about maybe instead of having the snow everywhere, I could make it more like spring or summer – like it took sooo long that this scene takes place a couple months after Christmas. Tell me what you think, I’ll try both for now
