Does anyone know if there is a good program to generate good planet textures? I’m kinda trying to make an earth like planet.
I’m pretty sure you’re going to have to paint it yourself, or find one that’s already made and take it as it is. I can at least suggest that you make one continent and then cut it up, and scale and rotate the pieces away from each other. This will create a very natural set of land masses. Also, put the clouds on a separate texture so they can be moved around and adjusted. Be sure to give your planet a haze(atmosohere) as is explained in so numerous tutorial that I’ll leave it to you to look one up.

It’s shareware, and photoshop only. But it’s largely a 1-button planet generator, and produces some actually halfway decent results. (It’s been a long time since I’ve played with it though, I don’t know if it’s compatible with the latest versions of photoshop)
As for how to paint your own:
I’d especially recommend looking at Greg Martin’s work, it’s quite good.
